5g X62 Upgrade FAQ:

+

The major difference is 2x carrier aggregation in the 5g bands.

This will allow the modem to utilize a low frequency 5g band for range, and aggregate to a higher frequency band for speed.

With this combination, it allows the Insty to potentially have speeds greater than 100mbs in very rural areas on a regular basis.

This will allow a much larger wireless 'pipe' between you and the cell towers, with maximum reach and better latency.

T-Mobile has towers already configured to do 2x CA, and the other providers will be following most likely within 2023.

+

It's very possible.

If you have T-Mobile currently, you may see speed increases right away if the tower you are connected to allows for 2x carrier aggregation.

Other carriers may not have 2x CA enabled on their current towers, but the X62 has other improvements that may affect your speeds.

The X62 also has power saving technology that allows for faster speeds while using less power.

It also claims to have up to 40% better signal in the 5g bands, so you may be able to get a better reach, possibly receiving 5g bands where it was difficult to do so with the X55.

+

No, the X62 modem does not include the millimeter wave 5g bands that are typically in urban areas.

The MMwave bands can only travel very short distances, so since most Insty users like to be outside of the city, we focus on developing technology that helps bring in a signal from farther out, so we will not be including MMwave frequencies on this 5g modem.

Yes, the POE in Squared is ethernet, so our older USB type cables will not work with the new modem.

We are including a 15 foot with your upgrade order, or you can choose a 30 foot cable length in the order form.

+

Yes.

Our router works great and powers the new POE X62 modems well.

We include a POE injector that will go between your router and the Squared antenna, and you will now be plugging the antenna ethetnet cable into the WAN port on the router.

Our router is based on Wifi 5 technology, and is a hardened mobile router that can accept a wide range of voltages, which makes it perfect for mobile RV, vehicle and camper use.

Wifi 5 has more than enough bandwidth for some of the fastest speeds we've seen from the 5g modems.

Our goal is to utilize technology to the fullest and do upgrades when and where it makes most sense. That way, we can be good stewards of the things we build, and to save you the most money at the same time.

The new POE modem is a little wider than the older modem size.  Because of this, we are re-designing the antenna mount for the binoculars antenna and will have that available for purchase on the Insty Connect Accessory store.

+

The new mount post is a little shorter than our older one - BUT, if you have the older one already mounted, then it will work just fine with the new insty Squared.

You'll just need to remove the 2 holding screws at the top and then slide your Squared right over top.  Don't forget to use your zip tie to secure.
