The easy way in

The modem still lives in the antenna for a strong signal β€” it just connects to your router with one simple USB cable instead of our pro gigabit line. Plug it in and you're online. Same app, same data plans, same automatic failover as our flagship. No decisions to make.

Real-world speeds depend on your signal, the tower's load, and your data plan β€” the ranges above are realistic everyday numbers, not guarantees. The theoretical maximums are the ceilings of each connection; you won't live at them, but Explorer leaves far more headroom for the fastest 5G.

Your choice of antenna

Two kinds of antenna. One easy choice.

Every Insty system connects through an antenna. There are only two types to understand β€” and most people only need the first.

Everyday antenna Β· pick one
Works withExplorerLITE

Omni-directional

Pulls signal from every direction β€” no aiming, ever. Works parked or rolling down the highway. Set it and forget it. This is the antenna you'll use every day. The Window mounts indoors at a window; the Square and Drum go outside for the strongest signal.

  • Window antenna Window β€” easiest install, no drilling, still very strong (indoor Β· default)
  • Square antenna Square β€” our proven 2024 antenna, ladder-mounted (outdoor)
  • Drum antenna Drum β€” our strongest all-around signal, roof-mounted (outdoor)
  • Mini-Drum antenna Mini-Drum β€” compact, trades a little distance for size (outdoor)

Same job β€” just pick the mount that fits your rig. Window is the indoor standard; Square & Drum mount outside for the strongest signal.

Directional

Aim it at a distant tower and pull cellular from miles away. You deploy it only when you're chasing a far-off signal. Most travelers never need one β€” but nothing beats it for extreme range.

  • Rocket antenna Rocket β€” powerful, aimable long-range antenna
  • 5G Binoculars antenna 5G Binoculars β€” the best cellular antenna ever made

Add it now, or grab one later β€” your system is ready for it.

Not sure? The Window is our easy indoor standard and plenty strong; step up to the outdoor Drum for the strongest signal. Add a directional only if you love boondocking far from towers. We'll walk you through it when you build.

The big guns

Sometimes the tower you need is miles away. That's when you reach for a directional antenna β€” aim it down the road and pull in signal nothing else can touch. We built these out of pure need, back before satellite internet, so travelers could get online in places they never had before.

The Insty Connect 5G Binoculars antenna aimed at the sky
Explorer only

5G Binoculars

One of the very first long-range antennas we ever built β€” and after all these years, we still haven't found one that beats it for distance and speed. It's the biggest antenna we make, and it's genuinely unreal: it has pulled a working signal off a tower 25 miles away. If there's cell service anywhere near you, the Binoculars is the one that grabs it.

Explorer only

Rocket

We built the Rocket as a smaller sibling to the Binoculars β€” most of that long-range punch in a more compact, easier-to-live-with size. It won't quite match the big guns for outright distance, but it still reaches far past anything its size has a right to.

$199

β€œOut in northeast Iowa I was hitting a tower 25 miles away, as the crow flies, on the Binoculars. I bought a $400 name-brand antenna off Amazon and swapped it in that exact spot β€” it wouldn't even connect. The Rocket got online there too; not quite enough to stream, but our β€˜smaller’ antenna still beat the industry's best.”
β€” Nick, founder

Satellite changed the game, and honestly these aren't for everyone anymore. But for pulling cellular from way out on the fringe, nothing we've tested comes close β€” so they still fill their niche, and they're still the best at it.
