If Speedify is acting up or support asks you to, here's how to reinstall or update it from the router's advanced (LuCI) screen โ€” step by step.

The short answer

Reinstalling Speedify pulls a fresh copy onto your router โ€” the usual fix if it's misbehaving, or the way to grab the latest version. You'll do it from the router's advanced LuCI screen. It takes a few minutes and a working internet connection.

This is an advanced step โ€” you don't need it for normal useOnly reinstall Speedify if you actually use it and it's acting up, or if we ask you to. If you just want reliable internet with automatic backup, you don't need Speedify at all โ€” see Speedify: what it is and when to use it.

Before you start

  • Make sure your router is online (its own antenna, a Starlink, or a Wi-Fi hotspot) โ€” the reinstall downloads Speedify, so it needs a real internet connection.
  • Have your router password handy (it's the Wi-Fi Key on the sticker on the bottom of the router).

Reinstall / update Speedify

  1. Join your Insty Wi-Fi and open the dashboard at http://192.168.8.1.
  2. Go to Router Settings โ†’ System โ†’ Advanced Settings, then click the link to open the LuCI (OpenWRT) interface.
  3. Sign in to LuCI with username root and your router password.
  4. From the top menu, choose VPN โ†’ Speedify.
  5. Click Install / Update.
  6. Click View Log to watch it work โ€” it usually finishes in a minute or two. When the log settles, the update is done.
Give it a minuteThe download and install take a moment, and the log scrolls as it goes. Let it run โ€” don't refresh or start over the second it pauses.
If the install won't finishSpeedify needs a solid connection to download, and once in a while an install stalls or the log shows an error. Don't keep hammering Install / Update โ€” that rarely helps. Instead, send us a note; this is often something we can fix from our end quickly, and we're happy to jump on it.
