Switch carriers on the Multi-Network plan

On the Multi-Network plan you can flip between carriers (like T-Mobile and Verizon) yourself โ€” from the app or the modem โ€” to chase the best signal wherever you're parked.

The short answer

The Multi-Network plan carries more than one carrier, so if one is slow where you're parked you can switch to another yourself. Open Providers, tap Enable on the carrier you want, and give it a minute to change over.

Switch from the app (easiest)

  1. Join your Insty Wi-Fi and open http://192.168.8.1.
  2. Tap the Providers button (in the row with Dashboard, Data plans, and Speed test).
  3. You'll see the carriers on your plan. Tap Enable on the one you want to use.
  4. Give it a minute or so to fully switch โ€” the dashboard will update to show the new network name and a fresh signal reading.

Or switch from the modem

Same change, from the cellular side โ€” useful with your own router, or if you're already in the modem.

  1. From the dashboard, open the Modem Dashboard (or go directly to http://192.168.225.1 if you're on your own router).
  2. Under the active connection, tap Enable on the provider you'd like to use.
  3. Wait about a minute for the switch to complete.
Two doors, one systemThe app and the modem change the exact same setting โ€” pick whichever is handy. If you use the Insty router, the app is the simple path; if you run your own router, the modem at 192.168.225.1 is your direct route.

Which carrier should I pick?

  • T-Mobile โ€” the biggest, fastest 5G footprint; usually the best speeds in and near towns.
  • Verizon โ€” the best reach; often the one that still works out in the sticks.

If you're not sure, try one, run a quick Speed test from the dashboard, and switch if it disappoints. A minute of trial-and-error beats guessing.

Give it a moment before you judge itRight after a switch the connection re-registers with the new carrier. Wait a full minute (and reload the dashboard) before you decide a carrier is slow.

Still stuck?

If a carrier won't enable or shows no service, you may simply be outside its coverage there โ€” try the other one. Still stuck? Reach out and we'll take a look with you.
