X-MOUNT
Installation Guide
The X-Mount holds your antenna to the rig two ways. Same mount, same lock — you just pick the feet that fit your surface.
MagnetsStrong, movable, no residue. For clean, thick, bare metal.
Peel & Stick3M VHB — permanent, holds almost anywhere. Needs a 24-hr cure.
⚠ Important safety & mounting notice
You are responsible for installing your X-Mount and antenna correctly. Insty Connect is not responsible for damage, loss, or injury caused by improper installation, inadequate surface prep, weak magnet contact, adhesive failure, or failure to check adhesion before travel — including damage to vehicles, trailers, property, or personal injury.
Check adhesion before every trip. If there's any doubt about the surface, paint, coatings, or metal thickness, choose a different mounting method.

1Lock the antenna onto the mount
Every antenna locks on the same way — with the lock wheel under the cradle. No tools.
- Rotate the lock wheel away from “tighten” to drop the lock all the way down.
- Slide the antenna on to the mount.
- Rotate the wheel in the “tighten” direction until snug — don't over-tighten.
- Check it: rock the antenna back and forth to be sure it's fully locked, then re-check that the wheel is still snug.
Hand-tight only. Don't use tools on the lock wheel — when it's snug, it locks into place on its own.
The lock wheel — the arrow shows the “tighten” direction.
Seat it fully, then wiggle-test the lock.
2Mount it to your rig
Option A · Magnets
If your mount came with magnet feet:
- Pick a spot that's clean and clear of debris.
- Set the antenna + X-Mount down on it.
- Check it! Try to pull the antenna off — you want strong, full magnetic grab on all four feet.
⚠ Verify before every trip. Magnets hold only on thick, clean, bare metal. If the surface, paint, coatings, or metal is too thin for full contact, don't rely on magnets for travel — a lost antenna can damage your rig or others.
Magnet feet — grab-test all four.
Option B · Peel & Stick (3M VHB)
- Prep the surface — fully clean the contact area (soap & water or alcohol); no dirt, oils, or residue. Let it dry completely.
- Peel the red backing off the pads and press to the surface.
- Press and hold 60 seconds.
- Wait a full 24 hours before any load — no driving or movement.
3M VHB pads — red backing peels off.
⚠ Every pad must be in full contact with a clean, dry surface, and cure a full 24 hours unloaded. After 24 hrs, check it — if the antenna moves too easily, do not travel: remove it and contact support. Adhesive failure during travel is the installer's responsibility.
3Keep it holding
Adhesion changes over time — heat, weather, vibration, and road grime all take a toll. You're responsible for regular checks, and for pulling the antenna if the hold ever weakens.
- Check monthly, and again before every long trip.
- Re-check after the rig has sat a while, or after a stretch in hot sun (especially peel-and-stick on metal).
- Any wobble, or a foot that's lifted? Remove the antenna immediately.
Clean, dry, residue-free — every time.
Removing the X-Mount
The peel-and-stick X-Mount is designed to be permanent — once cured, it's very hard to remove. You can pry the adhesive pads off the feet with tools, but the feet won't be reusable afterward. Need fresh ones? Contact support for replacement feet.
