LADDER MOUNT

Installation Guide
The Insty ladder mount — a pipe clamp with an antenna slide rail

The Ladder Mount clamps your antenna onto your RV's ladder — or most poles and rails. No drilling. The backing plate flips to fit a vertical or horizontal bar.

Everything in the ladder-mount kit laid out
In the kit
  • The mount (clamp + slide rail)
  • Backing plate
  • 4 bolts
  • Locking nuts
  • A zip tie

…plus your antenna.

Where to mount

Higher is better. Keep 12–18 in. clear of AC units, satellite dishes, and large metal. The top horizontal rail of the ladder works well on most RVs. You can face the antenna into the wind or let it cut the wind — both are fine.

1Clamp the mount to your ladder
  1. Set the backing-plate direction for your bar — rotate it for a vertical rail or a horizontal one (see photos).
  2. Wrap the mount around the bar with the backing plate on the far side, and thread the 4 bolts + locking nuts.
  3. Tighten the locking nuts equally on all sides for an even, snug fit.
⚠ Snug, not cranked. Don't over-tighten — but it must be tight enough that the mount won't rotate on the bar.

2Add the antenna & lock it on
  1. Slide the antenna all the way down the mount until the zip-tie ports line up.
  2. Feed the zip tie through the port on the antenna. With a finger on the far side, guide it through the port on the mount until the ends meet.
  3. Tighten and snip the tail.

Slide down until the ports line up — antenna upright.

⚠ Orientation matters — keep water out

Mount the antenna exactly as pictured: standing upright with the “insty” readable, and the cable + end cap on the BOTTOM. That keeps water out of the electronics. Never mount it laying down or sideways.

The zip tie threaded through the antenna and mount ports and tightened

Zip it up. The zip tie is what keeps the antenna from sliding back off the mount — make it tight, then trim the tail flush so nothing catches the wind.

3Before you roll

A quick once-over — takes ten seconds and saves an antenna:

✓Mount is snug and won't rotate on the bar.
✓Antenna is upright, “insty” readable, cable + end cap on the bottom.
✓Zip tie is tight and the tail is trimmed.
✓12–18 in. clear of AC units, dishes, and big metal.
✓Mounted high, with a clear view of the sky.
After your first trip or two, re-check the locking nuts — road vibration can loosen a fresh install. A quick snug-up and you're set.

Cutting vs. facing the wind

Either works. Turn the flat face into the wind, or turn it edge-on to cut through — whatever fits your ladder and keeps the antenna clear of obstructions. Signal comes from getting it high and unobstructed, not from which way it faces.
